Scientia Mentem Luminat
Knowledge Lights Up The Mind
At William Murdoch Primary School, we believe our children are entitled to have access to the very best of what has been thought and said.
A Warm Welcome to Our School Website
I trust that this website will offer you a glimpse of the life and character of the school that I am so proud and privileged to lead. At the heart of our school community are the children. Our primary duty is to ensure that all our pupils fulfil their academic potential, but I am aware that they have a great deal to learn and much to enjoy in all they do beyond their formal lessons.
William Murdoch Primary School was created following the amalgamation of Wilkes Green Infant School and Wilkes Green Junior School on 1 May 2019. Working in accordance to our motto ‘Scientia Mentem Luminat’ which translates to Knowledge Lights Up The Mind, our children are given the opportunity to enjoy a broad academic curriculum that is knowledge-rich and complemented by an extensive extra-curricular programme. Through the deep commitment, hard work and inspiration of the staff and governors, the children are encouraged to ‘be at their best’, show ambition, think critically, be creative and to make the most of the opportunities available to them, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and support. Our parents are supportive and engaged with all that we do and their enthusiasm for the school helps us to keep improving on our previous best.
The foundations of life-long learning are established here. We realise each child is unique. We want our children to be successful, enjoy their time in school and feel safe and secure. To gain a genuine sense of the ethos and energy of the school we strongly encourage you to visit the school. There you will see how the children engage with their learning, collaborate with their peers and the teaching staff and see how they uphold the values of respect, effort, attitude, cooperation and honesty that we hold so dear.
