The school engages with numerous partners and external organisations to provide pupils with a variety of enrichment opportunities to supplement the learning that takes place in the classroom.

We regularly have visitors in school who enhance the curriculum we offer. For example, the Arty-Fact Theatre Company often comes into school and presents a production for Upper School on topics ranging from Anti-bullying to Maths and History, which are always well-received by pupils.

Additionally, during Science Week, which takes place during the Spring Term, pupils will enrich their learning by taking part in a variety of workshops which have previously included forensic science, ‘silly science’ and virtual reality experiences. During our annual Health Week, our long-term partners A-Life deliver in-school workshops to every pupil, which aim to get them healthier, fitter, more energised and more productive and focus on themes such as mental health, drug awareness and physical fitness. Pupils may also receive a visit from a Roman Gladiator or the fire service amongst others during their time in Upper School.

Pupils also have the opportunity to engage in enrichment activities outside of school. We have a long-standing link with The Schools of King Edward VI in Birmingham and engage regularly with their outreach programme. This includes:

Annual Maths competitions for Year 4 and 5

Challenge workshops in Maths, English and Science for Year 5 and 6

Chess tournaments

History quizzes

Summer schools

Entrance test familiarisation sessions

As well as our link with these schools, we also work closely with local partners including the Handsworth Association of Schools, Aston Villa Football Club and Warwickshire County Cricket Club to provide our pupils with workshops and lessons which enhance their learning in the classroom.
